SDA Ltd were appointed by Birmingham Metropolitan College to design the mechanical and electrical services installations within their James Watt Campus in Birmingham. This work was awarded to SDA due to the success of their previous work on the Matthew Boulton College project.
This project was delivered against a very short programme. The project comprised an enabling works package followed by a construction period comprising a mixture of new build and refurbishment of existing buildings. SDA were also appointed to administer the works on site.
SDA undertook numerous surveys of the premises, to identify the building services installations for removal and modification within the Music Rooms, Joinery, Electrical and Building Workshops and adjacent areas, as part of the enabling works. This portion of the project was undertaken to enable the partial demolition of the campus, and to enable various other sections to be refurbished.
The main project included the complete refurbishment of the Training and Assessment Workshops, Lecture Rooms, Teaching Rooms, Office Spaces, and associated ancillary spaces together with some new build construction.
